THE BACKBONE OF MOMBASA'S ECONOMY

Kenya's Mombasa port being a gate way to east and central Africa, it is also a priced national asset for kenya. Industries and e-commerce depends on the port.

The Port being a major trading activity,it offers employment opportunities to

people around it because manpower is needed for the services to be done accordingly.

Business people in and out of the country make good use of the port services because it provides good investment opportunities for their business because services are in operation each and every time.

Mombasa being a busy city as a result of the port services, people come to the city in search of education.

In 2019, the port services were shifted to Naivasha as a result of the standard gauge railway and this became a huge blow to Mombasa residents  because it was the backbone of the city's economy and acording to the research done by the school of business in September 2019, Mombasa was at a risk of loosing of losing it's stability because for many years the port services was the one holding the higher percentage of the city's economy.

Mombasa residents can smile again because president William Ruto has begun fulfilling his promises to the coastal people which during his campaign period he had promised to bring back port operations back to Mombasa and barely two months in office the operations have begun again.

This will really help build back the economic development in the city which had gone down and people who lost their jobs and investment opportunities can now get back to their feet.
